ScribeFire for Firefox

Freelance Blog Writing with ScribeFire

Blog Posting is almost a necessity for the Freelance Writer these days. Who knows how this obscure pastime turned into the marketing medium of 2006+, but it did, and here at 2008, if you aren't blogging as a Freelance Writer, then you are missing out on some of the best work available.

With the massive changes in clients however, and trying to keep everything straight as you filter through the News of the Day, other blog posts, and your own ideas, having a tool inside your browser which comes to life, and allows you to post to any blog you are currently Freelance Writing for, is a huge time saver.

That in a nut-shell is the need which SrcibeFire for Firefox fulfills, and it fulfills the need completely.

ScribeFire allows you to set up multiple blog accounts using; WordPress, LiveJournal, Windows Live Spaces, Performancing, Jeeran, Tumblr, MySpace, Movable Type, Drupal, Textpattern, Roller, Blogger, and any blogging system which implements the MetaWebLog API.

Perhaps most important is that Christopher Finke, and his team, are dedicated to keeping this plug-in working and updated. It is very disappointing to find a great add-on which isn't being serviced any longer by the creator (or at least someone).

Google Documents Off Line!

For the Freelance Writer, there is nothing worse than loosing an article, book or set of blog posts you've put this week's pay on completing. Google Documents is a great backup tool, and I've touted its qualities for years now. Everything I write gets uploaded into Google Documents at some point (usually the work is started there...). Now Google Documents adds a much needed dimension to its usefulness... Off line editing.

The software tool which allows this is called Gears. After installation, a shortcut is created on your desktop, which starts up your web browser in your Google Documents account. If you are off-line at the time, you can open and edit documents; open and view spread sheets (though you can't edit them at this time... not sure why), and view other files you have on your Documents Account.

Editing your Write Documents is the same as on-line, and once you gain access to the web again, your edits are updated to the Google Documents server.

The Gears system also allows you to present and access the documents you have on the Google server, for office visits, or other off-line needs.
