There are times…

Blue-Ya-1-128x128One of the frustrations with Freelance writing, is the waste you recognize every day in project descriptions and work requests. Consider the following request:

I need a good writer to rewrite some pages for me.
Take note you must be fluent in English and have good grammar. This is to rewrite 5 or 6 pages, each page has about 2000 words.

DO NOT WANT SOMEONE TO USE THESAURUS AND CHANGE EVERY SECOND WORD.
DO NOT WANT SOMEONE TO WRITE IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE AND THEN USE A TRANSLATOR TO PUT IT IN ENGLISH.

My budget is low on this so please keep this in mind while making your bids. Thanks!

Well… of course your Budget is Low, you wasted your money hiring a writer at $2 an article, and now you have a bunch of articles that you have discovered are being used by the Search Engines as Landing Pages. Now your sales are down, your web site is dropping in to oblivion and …. you want a real, experienced, writer to fix the problem.

My only question, really, is why I should pay for your mistake, by not charging what I’m worth? — But that’s not a question which I need an answer for, I simply don’t bid on projects like this one.

Freelance Writer Tip #15 — Guard your Stats

This post isn’t simply an Angst Against the Futility of the World, it is a Case Example on where not to waste your time.

As a Freelance writer, your goal is to make money, and your second goal is to acquire clients.

A client who has a “low budget” for his writing projects is not a client I want on my list. Generally speaking, such clients demand more time, pay less money, do not provide good feedback and are more or less a means of bringing your Acquisition Rate down ( as well as your Category Rate), rather than being a benefit to future business. In short, they do damage to everything Guru.com has now set as their campaign to “Evaluate Quality of Freelance Services Without Bias

Consider these variables when judging whether or not to post a bid, you will profit from discretion.
