Smile more, Because they are Listening

Professionalism is Felt throughout the Entire Sale

One of the first lessons given to phone sales, and customer service personnel is to smile when they are on the phone. The purpose of this is simple; people can feel it. Doesn't matter if the smile is seen, the smile is felt. More than that, the absence of the smile is thunderous.

Marketing on the Internet has many of the same rules; you have to smile.

No matter what you believe you are selling, or offering, your Marketing base is Service. You areĀ  selling an intangible. You might believe you are selling a product, or campaigning for donations, or any number of other conversions, but your Marketing is based on Service. People have to believe in you, and your ability to meet their needs.

I know of several local companies in my area, who are better at what they do, and charge less for higher quality products, who still loose bids every day to other companies. The reason is simple; they believe they are not selling Service, they are admittedly pushing product.

That is in the real world. On the Internet, everything is intangible, whether you can walk out to the warehouse and put your hands on the product or not, no one can touch it through their computer, and attempts to make it less intangible always fail to convert sales. Just look at the millions the Real Estate market has spent on the "Virtual Walk Through" technology, and how little they can show in return for that technology.
Focus on Service Marketing, remember that your product is intangible, and above all, Smile.
